California has more than 5500 native plants and animals, some of which, like the tule elk
and southern sea otter, are found only here. These specialized treks are for groups looking
for a chance to view, photograph and learn about
the state's amazing wildlife. We've scouted out the best places and times to maximize viewing.
Some of our highlights are below:
Guests can get close and almost personal to the Northern Elephant Seal - a giant marine
mammal which can weigh up to 2.5 tons! We'll take you where seals can be seen almost anytime of year.
Added bonuses - amazing coastal views, sea otters, sea lions, shore birds and Native American
historical sites. In the early spring,
come to the coast with us to see harbor seals with their pups. We'll look for gray whales which
are migrating up the coast back to Alaska. We might even spy moms with their new calves as they
hug the shore for safety. Twice a month, the tides are
especially low and tidepooling during these times are amazing. If you're lucky enough to catch
the moon in the right phase, you'll see an unusual world few people see (or touch) firsthand.
As part of the Pacific Flyway, California is a
wonderful place for both our beginner and expert birding treks.
We provide high-quality Nikon binoculars and
spotting scopes for guests to use on all of our Wildlife Treks. Treks can include kayak or charter boat. |
